Eric Trump Joins the Board of Bitcoin Finance Firm Metaplanet
Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, has joined the advisory board of Japan-based Bitcoin finance firm Metaplanet.
Metaplanet announced this appointment on March 21, 2025, stating that Eric will contribute to the company’s Bitcoin strategy.
Metaplanet holds over 3,200 BTC and is one of the most active buyers of Bitcoin as a treasury asset.
Eric Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, has joined Metaplanet Inc., a Japanese company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, as an advisor.
Metaplanet announced on March 21, 2025, that Eric Trump had joined its new strategic advisory board “effective immediately.”
Metaplanet Welcomes Eric Trump to the Board
According to prolific Bitcoin (BTC) buyer Metaplanet, Trump’s appointment is part of his efforts to accelerate BTC adoption. Metaplanet’s strategic advisory services will play a key role in its Bitcoin treasury strategy.
Eric Trump is Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and one of the Trump family’s strongest advocates for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. He brings a wealth of experience and business acumen to Metaplanet’s board, the company said.
“We are honored to welcome Eric Trump as the first member of our strategic council and look forward to welcoming him at our annual general meeting,” said Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet’s managing director, in a statement.
Mr. Gerovich added:

Consider Bitcoin as a Treasury Asset
Metaplanet’s new strategic advisory board will advise on corporate strategy, capital allocation, and partnerships, among other topics. Thus, Eric’s contribution will help strengthen Metaplanet’s position among the world’s leading Bitcoin companies.
After its last BTC purchase on March 18, 2025, Metaplanet now holds over 3,200 Bitcoins in its treasury. This purchase enabled the company to acquire 150 Bitcoins worth approximately 1.8 billion yen, or approximately $12.5 million.
Eric Trump, a key figure in the decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial, has previously presented Bitcoin and Ethereum as excellent investment opportunities.
BTC is currently trading at around $83,000, having struggled since falling from its all-time high of $109,000. Ethereum, for its part, is hovering below $2,000, but analysts predict it could reach $4,000 in 2025.
